You are automatically eligible to use Health Advocate, regardless of whether you’re enrolled in a Hertz medical plan, and there is no cost to you for using the service.

Benefits Support

Health Advocate provides help to you, as well as your spouse, dependents, parents, and even your spouse’s parents when you need it.

Health Advocate is an independent company made up of health care professionals, such as nurses, doctors, and psychologists, who have expertise in the health care and health insurance fields, and knowledge of our benefit plans. They’ll use that expertise to provide you and your family with confidential, personal support when you experience an issue related to health care and/or your health insurance. Best of all, you’ll work with the same Personal Health Advocate throughout the process.

Health Advocate can assist you with:

  • Understanding your benefits.
  • Talking with an insurance company or claims administrator to get approvals for needed services.
  • Scheduling appointments with providers, including hard-to-reach specialists, or to arrange for specialized treatments and tests.
  • Figuring out insurance claims and/or billing issues.
  • Working through a medical issue regarding your parent or your spouse’s parent.
  • Transferring medical records, x-rays, or lab results.
  • Solving a prescription drug issue.

You can contact Health Advocate online in the member portal or by calling 866-695-8622.

Medical & Pharmacy Coverage

Medical Coverage & Pharmacy Benefits to Fit Your Life & Your Pocketbook

Medical Plan Options & Pharmacy Benefits

Hertz understands the importance of medical coverage for you and your dependents. You may choose between two plans, both administered by Kaiser Permanente: the Kaiser HMO or the Kaiser POS (Added Choice).

Both plans cover the same medical services, use Kaiser providers for in-network care, and cover in-network preventive care at 100%. They offer the same health care management programs and resources. Plus, you can earn wellness incentives with both plans.

There are three major differences between the plans:

  • The providers you can use. With the Kaiser POS (Added Choice) Plan, you can choose to use out-of-network providers, but you’ll receive greater cost savings when you stay in-network. With the Kaiser HMO Plan, only Kaiser providers are covered.
  • Your deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums. With the Kaiser POS (Added Choice) Plan, you’ll pay a deductible if you choose out-of-network providers. The Kaiser HMO Plan has a higher out-of-pocket maximum.
  • Your prescription drug costs. Kaiser also manages your pharmacy benefits. The Kaiser HMO only covers in-network prescription drugs. The Kaiser POS (Added Choice) covers in-network and out-of-network prescription drugs.

Commuter Benefits Program

Save on Mass Transit & Parking Expenses

Don’t lose the chance to put up to $1,000 back into your pocket this year!

Program Overview

The Hertz Commuter Benefits Program is an IRS-approved benefit, administered through the Office of Compliant Administration (OCA), that allows employees to set aside money on a tax-free basis to pay for transportation and parking expenses incurred while getting to and from work.

  • You will receive your own OCA debit card that you can use to pay for eligible commuting expenses.
  • Vouchers can be used to pay for transit tickets, passes, or to pay parking vendors.
  • Any unused funds that remain in your account at the end of the year will be carried
over into the next plan year, if you continue to participate in the plan.

How Commuter Accounts Work

  • A commuter account allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars for mass transit and parking expenses associated with your daily commute to work.
  • There are two types of commuter accounts: mass transit and parking. You have the option to enroll in one or both accounts.
  • You choose a monthly election amount, up to $300 for mass transit expenses and $300 for parking expenses. This money is placed in your account via payroll deduction and then used to pay for eligible commuting expenses.

What's Covered

Eligible Expenses

Ineligible Expenses

Commuter funds can cover costs for:

  • Bus, ferry, train, subway tickets
    and passes
  • Vanpool fees when there are six or
    more adult passengers
  • Parking expenses, including parking
at or near your place of work or at the
location from which you take mass
    transit to get to work

Certain expenses are not eligible, including:

  • Tolls
  • Taxis
  • Gas/fuel
  • Mileage

Tax Savings

  • If you take public transportation to work or pay for parking, you’ll want to take advantage of the savings these plans offer.
  • Money contributed to a commuter account is free from federal and state taxes and remains tax-free when it is spent on eligible expenses.
  • On average, participants enjoy a 30% tax savings on their annual contribution. This means you could be saving up to $1,000 per year on commuter expenses!

Save your receipts when you spend your commuter account dollars. You may need
itemized invoices to verify the eligibility of expenses.
