Commuter Benefits Program
Save on Mass Transit & Parking ExpensesDon’t lose the chance to put up to $1,000 back into your pocket this year!
Program Overview
The Hertz Commuter Benefits Program is an IRS-approved benefit, administered through the Office of Compliant Administration (OCA), that allows employees to set aside money on a tax-free basis to pay for transportation and parking expenses incurred while getting to and from work.
- You will receive your own OCA debit card that you can use to pay for eligible commuting expenses.
- Vouchers can be used to pay for transit tickets, passes, or to pay parking vendors.
- Any unused funds that remain in your account at the end of the year will be carried
over into the next plan year, if you continue to participate in the plan.

How Commuter Accounts Work
- A commuter account allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars for mass transit and parking expenses associated with your daily commute to work.
- There are two types of commuter accounts: mass transit and parking. You have the option to enroll in one or both accounts.
- You choose a monthly election amount, up to $300 for mass transit expenses and $300 for parking expenses. This money is placed in your account via payroll deduction and then used to pay for eligible commuting expenses.

Tax Savings
- If you take public transportation to work or pay for parking, you’ll want to take advantage of the savings these plans offer.
- Money contributed to a commuter account is free from federal and state taxes and remains tax-free when it is spent on eligible expenses.
- On average, participants enjoy a 30% tax savings on their annual contribution. This means you could be saving up to $1,000 per year on commuter expenses!
Save your receipts when you spend your commuter account dollars. You may need
itemized invoices to verify the eligibility of expenses.

Adoption Assistance Program
Financial Assistance for Adopting Parents
Hertz offers financial support for employees who adopt a child through the Adoption Assistance program. You’re eligible for assistance if you’re a full-time regular (non-casual and non-temporary) employee with at least 12 continuous months of employment.
You can receive a benefit up to $5,000 per eligible child you adopt, for up to two children per employee. If your situation qualifies, the program reimburses you for a portion of eligible expenses after the adoption is legally final, including:
- Adoption fees
- Attorney fees
- Court costs
- Travel expenses while away from home (including meals and lodging)
- Other reasonable and necessary expenses directly related to the legal adoption of a child (i.e. uninsured medical expenses for the adopted child and/or birth mother, along with immigration, immunization, and translation fees).
Eligible Children
Any child under age 18 who is not a blood relative (including a foster child) or previously adopted child of you or your spouse. If the child turns 18 during the year, the child is eligible for the part of the year he or she is under age 18 (unless physically or mentally incapable of self-care).
Claims for Reimbursement
To receive reimbursement, you’ll first pay for qualified expenses and save your receipts. Then, file a claim form within 90 days of the date the adoption is legal.
The Adoption Assistance policy can be found at hertz.policytech.com.
Paid Parental Leave (PPL)
Taking Leave as a New Parent

- are a full-time regular (non-casual and non-temporary) employee,
- have had at least six (6) continuous months of employment since your most recent date of hire, and
- meet the qualifications below.
If you are returning from layoff following a break in service of less than two (2) years, you are treated as a continuing employee and your length of service is based on your adjusted service date.
Questions? To speak with a Leave Specialist, call 1-800-654-3373 and select option 2. Support is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT).
| 10-Week PPL Qualifications |
2-Week PPL Qualifications |
| If you are a birth mother, you can take eight (8) weeks of Paid Parental Leave (PPL) due to physical inability to work after the birth of a child or children. You can take an additional two (2) weeks of PPL to bond with your child(ren). |
You can take two (2) weeks of Paid Parental Leave (PPL) to bond with your child(ren) if:
Adoption of a stepchild is excluded from PPL. |
PPL must be completed within six (6) months of the child’s birth, adoption, foster placement, or surrogacy placement.
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) & Short-Term Disability (STD)
All time off under Short-Term Disability (STD) and Paid Parental Leave (PPL) is concurrent with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Example: If you’re a birth mother, you’ll receive 10 total weeks of PPL (eight weeks to recover, plus two weeks to bond). If you choose to take 12 weeks of FMLA time, two of those 12 weeks will be unpaid.
For more detailed information, follow the link below to access the Hertz FMLA policy.
Request Leave
To request leave, notify your manager and The Hartford at least 30 days before you plan to begin your leave. If there are unforeseen circumstances, such as premature delivery, give notice as soon as possible.
